***WARNING DO NOT TOUCH THIS UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY - WORST REMOVAL COMPANY WE HAVE EVER USED - IGNORE THE LATEST FAKE 5 STAR REVIEWS ALL LEFT ON THE SAME DAY (most of them have only left 1 review)*** We booked Howells and Son to move some items from the UK to Spain, based on their (suspected fake) 5 star reviews on Google Maps (beware of those people who have only given a handful of reviews or have restricted profiles on Maps). The items arrived 17 days later than agreed, which was extremely inconvenient. They took ABSOLUTELY NO care with our belongings and lots of things were damaged (high gloss furniture scratched, leather headboard scuffed, canvas pictures punctured amd mirror smashed) and missing including serval boxes & irreplaceable personal items such as photos and keep sakes.. Nothing was bubble wrapped or protected as promised (everything was thrown into the van without care). When we rung to complain, we felt intimidated by the aggressive receptionist, and Howells refused to accept responsibility, blaming the company that they commissioned in the UK. We were unaware that our possessions would be passed between various removal companies No apology or compensation was offered for the broken, damaged or missing items, and they refused to claim on their insurance. We would definitely NOT recommend this unprofessional company who demand payment in CASH. When we said that we weren't happy with the service and refused to pay the full amount, they threatened to take our items away, so we had no choice but to pay. We would give a ZERO STAR if we could. ***AVOID AT ALL COSTS & DON'T BE FOOLED BY INITIAL PLEASANTRIES, FALSE PROMISES & FAKE REVIEWS***. ***Response from the owner is complete nonsense - more intimidation***

IGNORE THE FAKE 5 STAR REVIEWS FROM RESTRICTED ACCOUNTS ON MAPS - Promised delivery within 5 days. It took 3 weeks. Lots of promises before booking. They used a 3rd party to do the move within the UK, before loading into their own van to cross the channel. They did not tell us that, before hand. Some boxes were missing, and some items damaged. Their attitude was, "what do you expect "? Would definitely avoid this company. Pay more, and get a better service elsewhere. AVOID, AVOID, AVOID.

This company is awful. They report and get any negative reviews taken down even when I am giving an honest review of my experience with them. Also they are known for publishing fake reviews to boost their ratings. I enquired about a FREE quote for a removal for a particular date but did not respond as the cost was too high and we booked with another removal company. Howells and Son decided to turn up on the day without our consent and as the people at the house weren’t the ones who booked the company, they had no idea that the wrong company had turned up. Only when the lady asked for a deposit did they realise something was wrong as I had already paid a deposit with another company. Once I informed them that I did not book Howells and Son and had no idea why they had turn up, my mum immediately asked for them to leave realising she had been scammed into a false sense of security. The lady refused to remove the belongings from the van and demanded “compensation” for her time being wasted when we had never even booked them in the first place. She refused to leave until we gave her €100. After 20 minutes and feeling threatened, my mum paid the lady and then we received an awful horrible email from a woman called Anne saying we did book them and should have cancelled when this is LIES. I never booked with this company and they refuse to accept any responsibility for their actions via email. They haven’t replied since sending their rude email in the 3rd of June. They are FRAUDS - be careful. When our actual removal company turned up later in the day we mentioned what Howells and Son had done and they told us that they are well known for this sort of behaviour.

Howells & Son moved some of my personal belongings after my husband died they are 100 % professional took extremely good care of handling and packing up my belongings and safely delivered them to me where they then even put them in the house for me I would highly recommend this company they were also the best price as contacted many other companies who were charging stupid prices Thankyou Howells & Son 😊

Having spoke to Anne on relocating down to southern spain, she very quickly put me at ease and assured me my life long precessions would be taken care off from door to door. Not only was this an exceptional service but a very family service at that where from the packers to the drivers were all so very helpful and kind. When we moved house in Spain Howells were absolutely brilliant. From the first conversation throughout the entire process of estimating the size of the move, packaging everything up, collection and delivery on the agreed dates and installation at the new address everything went smoothly. No breakages or damage either which was particularly important as some items were very large and heavy and included motorbikes. The team were all extremely friendly and knowledgeable. We were very happy and would not hesitate to recommend Howells.

We used Howells to transport us from the Uk to Alicante in 2021. We used them again in 2023 to move houses within Spain and due to unforeseen circumstances we have recently used them to transport all our furniture and belongings back to the UK. Howells are a family run business with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the removal trade! Anne takes care of the Planning and Admin matters organising Customs and Road Transport while Steve her other half along with their children Charlie and Holly and Holly’s Partner Richard are all hands on with packing and loading the well maintained and equipped Vans and Artics! They offered us a Packaging service to ensure our furniture was well wrapped and secure keep for the long journey! They all work hard and nothing is too much trouble for them! They are an excellent Team and I have recommended them to my friends and family who have also used their service! They are friendly, helpful and their prices are very competitive! ***AWFUL - DO NOT USE*** Requested a free quote on their website which was too high so we didn't respond and they randomly turned up on the day I enquired about and demanded €100 for them to leave. A woman called Anne sent an incredibly rude email and is now refusing to answer an emails regarding their behaviour. Do not message this company - they are FRAUDS.

Very professional and reliable. Efficient company from start to completion. They were on time and contactable. Full credit to owners and staff, a family run business that’s great at all levels.

Communication with Anne from start to finish was great, she kept me updated along the way. The UK lads Andy and Lee could not have been more accommodating and punctual. Made use of the free storage offered which was a godsend as our situation changed during the removal period. This was invaluable and gave us some breathing space. We had a few amendments mid way and Anne offered us some great advice as we were struggling with the language barrier, documentation and Spanish laws. On delivery in Spain, the team naming a few Charlie, Holly and Rich were utterly professional and careful with our belongings. We had total confidence with Howells and would 100% recommend the Uk to Spanish movers. Thanks to the Howell’s team for a smooth transition ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Howells removals . What can i say. They arrived in nice clean vans. They worked as a Team. They moved my furniture with care and intention to detail.. They used blankets to protect my furniture. They boxed up for me anything I could not pack without any hesitation. They were happy enjoying their work which made it easier and stress free for me. Would I use them again most definitely. They are a very professional company. . Thank you for making my removal day stress free.

Very professional, but still a personal service

Used Howells when we moved to Spain 5 years ago, and used them again when we returned to the UK a few weeks ago. Can't recommend them enough. Anne and her team were helpful and professional from day one. On moving day Holly and the two guys (sorry didn't get their names) arrived on time and the whole loading only took about 40 minutes, we didn't take advantage of their packing service but would recommend it. UK side was just as good, we were contacted with a delivery date and the guys arrived on time and unpacked within 30 minutes, in terrible weather conditions - snow and wind. Nothing was damaged or broken. Would definitely recommend them for a trouble free move.

Late, damaged and overcharged. An estimated 21 cubic meters was actually 33 cubic meters. At 33 cubic meters I was overcharged by over £1000. Many items were damaged when they were finally delivered three days late. I did eventually receive payment to repair the damage caused. If you value your property, think hard before using this Company. They may appear the cheapest but I should have went with a more, apparently, more expensive company. I've waited over two months for a refund.

Advertised price much higher than quoted prices. Also noticed them putting down other removal companies on Facebook - one which we used in the end and proved to be excellent (and significantly cheaper).

Truly terrible. After contacting Howells & Sons for our removals, speaking to Anne, providing photos of all our belongings to be moved and stored, suggesting a 7.5 ton vehicle was required, we received a quote, which we accepted. Happy with the service and communication at that point, nobody came to assess the requirements. On removal day, they turned up with an 18m3 vehicle, totally unsuitable for the amount of furniture to be moved. This was immediately obvious to us on their arrival. We were informed that despite providing them with all details, including photos they did not even have a 7.5 ton vehicle and we would need to pay an additional €500 for an additional vehicle. They seemed slightly surprised we were quite frustrated and annoyed about this. However, despite this frustration we were never rude merely direct, possibly slightly blunt, when explaining it was them that made the mistake, and they were expecting us to pay for their incompetence. We spoke to Anne on the phone and she proceeded to interupt and shout over us, insisting we were rude to her obviously very sensitive daughter, I stress, we weren't, despite quite understandable frustration we were merely direct. We have all the emails detailing their mistake, in fact we included photos of some items we have decided not to take, so originally the quote was for more furnishings. If I was more cynical I might think they deliberately underestimate, thereby requiring an additional van and charges. Good job I'm not so cynical! In the end, despite obviously needing removals as soon as possible, we cancelled as it was us being insulted and expected to pay for the experience. On a day which can already be stressful, they managed to make it additionally stressful and were completely unsympathetic or apologetic for the stress they had caused. We are now left having to find another removal company at very short notice, but ........ Goodbye and good riddance. Just found out from our neighbour she passed them some chocolate bars for them to give to us to ease the stress of moving, but they left without passing them on. Such pleasant people.

Stay clear of this company. No respect for your belongings even when you’re there while they bang, drop and throw your boxes into their van. Asked if they were going to bubble wrap our furniture and told that they do it at their warehouse, which was a total lie. When they finally did deliver our things weeks later than promised, only the TV was wrapped and even then they taped directly onto the screen damaging that. Loads of items damaged and some valuables missing!!! Contacted Howells to give them a chance before having to leave this review but we were brushed off. If you’re considering them, do yourself a favour, use someone else!

We had a terrible experience using Howells and would not recommend them to anyone. We initially chose to go with them based on the positive reviews they had from other customers but soon seriously regretted our decision. Communication with the company was very poor, and after being told several times they only needed two weeks notice for our goods to be delivered, we didn’t actually receive delivery until 5 weeks after our initial request, and this was after having to chase them several times. Once our things finally arrived they were in a really poor state. We had been assured furniture would be wrapped and protected at their warehouse, however it arrived unwrapped, filthy and damaged in places. There had clearly been no care or attention given to our possessions. Numerous boxes were not labelled or mis-labelled, making unpacking very challenging, and again no care or attention had been given. Our velvet curtains had been used as padding, shoved down the side of a box, causing irreparable damage. Packing tape was also placed directly onto our TV screen. After unpacking all our goods I realised one of my designer handbags was missing. I contacted Anne to ask if my bag been misplaced or left behind somewhere, along with details of the poor service we had received, giving them the opportunity to try to compensate for this. I got a response to say she was off sick but would get back to me on her return, yet 4 weeks later I still have had no follow up on any of this. My recommendation would be to avoid them at all costs.

Dreadful experience… avoid!

We contacted Anne at Howells and she came to our house and did an assessment. The price was very competitive and we felt really comfortable with the company from the beginning. The day of packing the team arrived bright and early and started packing immediately. They were just so professional and super fast. These guys have this down to a fine art. They transported our home from the comunidad de Valencia to Granada in Andalusia. The day of delivery went really well and they went out of their way to help us with some furniture that the previous owners had left. The whole team were just so lovely friendly and professional. They worked so hard and I really can not thank them enough for everything that they did. All of our possessions arrived in perfect condition. I really could not recommend this company highly enough. The whole experience with them was just so fantastic. Thank you all so much for your hard work and general fabulousness.

Absolutely recommended howells, they picked up our home contents from storage in the UK, stored it free until we got our move in date, we rang to say getting our keys and Howells were there, it was like a military operation they had our contents in our home in under 2hours. Putting it in the correct location within our home, they are all so nice&friendly, it took a lot of stress off us as they did everything, I would absolutely recommend Howell &Sons to anybody thinking of moving

We used Howells&Son to collect our household contents which were in storage in the uk, when we got our completion date for our new home Howells&Son gave us completely FREE 2months storage in there depot, they took care of all paperwork for us, when we got our move in date we rang Howells&Son to arrange delivery to our new home it was all just so easy, the morning of delivery they delivered our contents and it was like a military operation, we were so impressed they had our contents inside our new home in 2hours, Every item arrived safe and sound I did research a lot of removal companies and without a doubt Howells&Son delivered what they promised a first class service. I would 💯 recommend this company.

Was supposed to call me back last week with dates for collection .no phone call and no response at all.

In short, if you’re moving goods to or from Spain, choose Howells as your service provider. We’ve just utilised their services for returning a load of furnishings from Almeria Spain to the North East of England and the service was exemplary. From the first contact requesting quotes to the removal day in Spain and arrival of our goods, every aspect was superb. Anne in the offices was so helpful and reassuring, even contacting us the week before removal to confirm everything was on schedule. Paul and his son, the removals team arrived at ours as scheduled on moving day at 8am as promised as we were signing contracts and leaving that day. Paul even called me the night before to assure me they would be on time. They packed everything promptly particularly fragile items with care and wrapped up professionally. One week later, the goods arrived with Murray who also contacted us the night before to ensure everything was ready. I still have no idea how Murray managed to reverse an articulated wagon unit up the full length of our street but I can only say his driving skills matched his removal skills. Having experienced nightmare removal firms previously, I can compare good with bad and I can assure you, Howells service and prices were superb. Choose these guys if you can and you won’t go far wrong.

Howells explained the customs forms that had to be completed. Free packing service, removals, storage and delivery all great and accommodated delayed delivery date and new delivery address in UK.
